The Goblin Raid - 1/24/13 Empty The Goblin Raid - 1/24/13

With Shalelu's prompting the party took a quick trip to the farmlands southeast of Sandpoint. You left early in the morning and it was just a few hours travel. By the edge of the Whisperwood moor, just south of the Mosswood you found signs of the Goblins on the move. Tracking their obvious path west toward the farmlands of Sandpoint just before mid-day you came upon a small farm house.

<Party investigated the farm house in the Virtual Session on 1/24 and killed the goblins that were resting inside>

After slaying the goblins and laying the remains of the former occupants to rest, the party spent the day recovering (spells) and preparing to move on after the goblin trail. The band of goblins that slew the farmers seems to have just been one group in a larger force. But before you can pursue further, Shalelu finds you. She says that Sheriff Hemlock got word of another murder just after you left Sandpoint. The farmer Maester Grump was reportedly killed in a fashion similar to the others. His farm lies near the heart of the farmlands. It looks like the Goblins headed farther south and west, while Maester Grump's farm is due west.

Sheriff Hemlock sent a large patrol (8 guardsmen) to investigate the situation at Maester Grump's and help with the Goblin raiders. He told the patrol to meet up with you at Maester Grumps and he sent Shalelu to give you the message. The Sheriff suggests going to Maester Grump's farm to investigate as he believes you might pickup some information that his patrol would miss. Then accompanying the patrol farther south and east to intercept the goblins before they can raid more farmhouses.

Shalelu says she doesn't know much about the murders but she could either go with you to Maester Grumps or she can go south tracking the goblins movements until you can join with the patrol and attack them. The moon is out so Shalelu urges the party to leave that night if they are rested enough to do so.

You killed the goblins earlier in the day so you had some time to rest while burying the farmers and searching the farm. So you are ready to leave in the night if you want to (and of course everyone in the party can see in the dark). The casters should have their full compliment of spells ready.

Let me know what you guys want to do from here. And we'll setup for the next virtual session the investigation at Maester Grump's farm and the Goblin Raid. Shalelu can either accompany you as an NPC (I'll post her character sheet for you, but she's an elven ranger) or she can go off on her own and rejoin you later.

"Shalelu, it is fortunate you arrived to assist. Your unique ability to track may assist us in determining small details at the crime scene which we may otherwise miss. While the goblins are a real threat, we also need to stop the murderer(s) from causing further fear and death amongst the citizens of Sandpoint. I believe it would be best if you came with us to Maester Grump's first. Thus far, no one in Sandpoint or Magnimar have been able to make inroads in the investigation."
